Adventure Play closes
Decision appears tied to former owner's arrest on child sex charge
PERKINS TWP. — Adventure Play, the indoor kids center at the plaza near the Staples store, is closing, according to an announcement from the owner’s social media account.
Perkins Township police Detective Joe Rotuno said last week that the original owner, Robert Stein, was arrested after he allegedly exchanged materiel of a sexual nature “via messaging through videos and images to a minor,” a 17-year-old girl.
After Stein’s arrest other potential victims contacted police.
“It’s a significant list, about a dozen, and a new persons of interest,” Rotuno said. He declined to identify the second suspect. He said additional charges were likely.
The closure of Adventure Play opened a year ago and is for sale. The decision appears directly related to Stein’s arrest. According to the announcement, the concept — indoor connected bounce houses and other play stations — was working well before Stein’s arrest in February.
Rotuno has been unavailable to provide an update.
