SANDUSKY — There’s a new piece of equipment being used at the Aligned Data Center under construction on the former New Departure plant site.
The giant crane can be seen by passing motorists traveling near West Perkins and Hayes avenues from a mile away. It is a Manitowoc MLC650.
What is a is a Manitowoc MLC650.
It’s a 650-ton lattice-boom crawler crane featuring the Variable Position Counterweight (VPC) system, which automatically adjusts counterweight positioning to optimize lifting capacity and stability.
It offers a maximum main boom length of 104 meters and can be equipped with a 30-meter fixed jib or a 101-meter luffing jib, extending reach up to 157 meters. The optional VPC-MAX attachment increases capacity to 700 tons and extends boom and jib configurations to 205 meters.
