SANDUSKY — For years, the full truth behind the disappearance and murder of Amanda Dean has been locked away in the filing cabinets of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

Until now.

On March 31, 2026, the state officially blinked. In response to a persistent public records battle by StayTunedSandusky, the Attorney General’s Public Records Unit has agreed to release the massive criminal case file in the State of Ohio v. Frederick Reer.

‘CLIER’ wall crumbles

For months, the state withheld these documents citing the Confidential Law Enforcement Investigatory Records (CLEIR) exception—a common legal shield used to protect active investigations.
