HURON — A long-time Huron city council member known for his “fighter” mentality is ready for his next round—this time, with a seat in Columbus in his sights.

Sam Artino filed his election petition on Wednesday’s deadline for the 89th Ohio House District, seeking the Democratic nomination to take on incumbent state Rep. D.J. Swearingen, R-Huron, this fall. While Swearingen faces no primary opposition, Artino will have to clear a hurdle first: Easton Retzke
