SANDUSKY — Ashli Ford, the local podcaster currently facing a mountain of felony fraud and forgery charges, took an unusual step Thursday: she filed a formal complaint with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

Supporters of Ashli Ford were in court in May when she was convicted on four felony intimidation charges. This photo was taken while the victims of her threats were giving the court victim impact statements. (Photo provided)

Her claim? That StayTunedSandusky.com has “repeatedly reached out to her” for comment, according to a detective from the sheriff’s office.

The problem with Ford’s assertion is that it appears to be demonstrably false. As is standard journalistic practice, this reporter has reached out and corresponded exclusively with Ford’s attorney, Peter Pattakos, regarding her pending criminal cases. Pattakos has been an active participant in this dialogue, often responding at length to inquiries—including an email exchange just this morning regarding the latest felony indictments against his client.

Free speech for me, not thee?

The complaint highlights a striking contradiction in Ford’s public persona. In May 2025, Ford was convicted of four felony intimidation charges for threatening Norwalk city officials. Her defense team has consistently argued that those threats—which included promises to bring officials to their “demise”—were protected by her First Amendment rights.
