Blanche, 'Dr. Oz,' and FBI director in Ohio fighting fraud
Yost attends, vice president stays in DC
COLUMBUS — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost attended a news conference Thursday with U.S. Attorney General nominee Todd Blanche to tout a federal crackdown on Medicare fraud.
Blanche is struggling for support in Congress to be confirmed as AG. He told U.S. senators this week that he and President Donald Trump would abandon a $1.8 billion fund they were setting up to pay people they determine were harmed during the Biden administration, including Jan. 6 insurrectionists Trump pardoned last year — due to what Trump claims is his predecessor’s weaponization of the Department of Justice.
Trump’s critics call it a “slush fund,” and contend that Trump, his administration and his family are the most corrupt leaders in Washington history. Blanche’s trip to Ohio, however, was designed to focus attention on Medicare fraud. The Plain Dealer is reporting at cleveland.com that the Trump administration and state officials announced several new anti-fraud actions in the state, including indictments of 14 Ohioans accused of illegal swindles that netted them more than $50 million.
