Both sides demand Ohio AG hand over Amanda Dean files
Family lawsuit against the county alleges Sheriff Corbin covered up her murder for years
NORWALK — In a rare moment of harmony, the family of Amanda Dean and the Huron County sheriff’s deputies accused of covering up her 2017 murder have joined forces against a common target: the Ohio Attorney General and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
A lawsuit filed by the family in U.S. District Court in December 2024 cannot move forward because Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson refuses to turn over critical evidence from the criminal investigation of Amanda’s death, and the sheriff’s failure to investigate it.
In a joint court filing on July 15, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio (Tokar et al. v. Corbin et al., Case No. 3:24-cv-02255-JZ), both the plaintiffs and the defense asked Judge Jack Zouhary to step in after state investigators failed to turn over critical evidence from the criminal probe.
