Can new police chief fix Put-in-Bay's broken badge?
Reason for Kimble's departure remains a mystery
PUT-IN-BAY — After months of administrative silence following the quiet departure of its former top cop, the Village of Put-in-Bay officially announced its new selection for police chief late last month.
The announcement was sparse. In a brief Facebook post, the Put-in-Bay Daily reported that Mike Dillon had been officially sworn in. The post touted Dillon’s 24 years of law enforcement experience and his status as a full-time island resident but offered little else.
Dillon isn’t just taking a new job; he is inheriting a department that has spent years defined by scandal, excessive force lawsuits, and leadership instability.
