SANDUSKY — Sandusky police arrested man Tuesday suspected of being a producer of child pornography videos that include recordings himself sexually abusing children.
Kai Manner, age 40 or 41, of the 600 block of Polk Street in Sandusky, is charged with three counts of rape and four counts of pandering obscenity, according to booking information at the Erie County Jail. Manner remains incarcerated there with bond set at $650,000.
Sandusky detectives learned about Manner’s activities from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a national network of coordinated federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to investigating, prosecuting, and preventing child sexual abuse material and online child exploitation.
Initially an 8-year-old child allegedly abused by Manner was identified, Police Chief Jared Oliver said. But after arresting Manner at his job on Tuesday and executing a search warrant at his home, there are likely to be more charges. Additional videos were located in the home and additional children can be seen in them.
“There were several videos of a very graphic nature involving some young children,” the chief said. “We are working to identify the other potential victims,” Oliver said.
Investigators also located a room in the home where the pornography was being produced, Oliver said.
