MILAN TWP. — A 13-year-old and a 10-year-old both were injured Saturday afternoon when the All Terrain Vehicle they were riding emerged from a private driveway into traffic on Ohio 113.
The State Highway Patrol Sandusky post is investigating the crash, which happened at about 1:45 p.m. in the eastbound lane near milepost 10. The 13-year-old was operating the ATV; the 10-year-old was a passenger.
The ATV was struck by a 2021 Toyota Rav4, operated by Martin Klenk of Berlin Heights. The Toyota traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned, and struck a utility pole, catching fire.
The older child was transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
The 10-year-old passenger’s injuries, which were described as “life-threatening,” was transported to UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital by a medical helicopter.
