Decision 2025: Perkins Twp. trustee Jim Lang running on his record

Watch the interview here

PERKINS TWP. — Jim Lang was interviewed Tuesday for StayTunedSandusky’s Between the Lines — Decision 2025 public affairs talk program.

Lang, who has served since 2014 and previously worked in local police departments including Perkins and Sandusky, sat down to discuss his record and goals heading into the 2026 election.

He highlighted the township’s top priority: the new fire station. The project will consolidate two aging stations into a single, modern facility with sufficient personnel and equipment to improve operations and efficiency. Lang said the township has been saving for years to fund the project and expects to recoup additional costs by selling township properties, with an estimated $3 million going toward construction.

Other topics included:

  • Police and emergency services: Lang praised the township’s police department, noting officers live locally and are well-equipped to serve residents efficiently.

  • Budget management: The township has pursued grants, careful equipment purchasing, and recycling older vehicles to stretch funds.

  • Economic development: Lang discussed the new Align Data Centers project, noting the township receives a portion of taxes from the property, which will increase as the development progresses.

On his decision to seek reelection, Lang said he wants to continue building on current momentum, complete ongoing projects, and maintain essential services for residents. He emphasized the importance of keeping streets safe and cleared, particularly in winter, and ensuring the township’s public safety departments have the equipment and support they need.

Lang is a lifelong Sandusky resident with four adult children and seven grandchildren. He credited his career in law enforcement with shaping his understanding of community needs and public service.
