SANDUSKY — Turnout has been steady since early voting started Oct. 6, according to Erie County Elections Board director Alex Jones.
As of Friday, 1,188 in-person votes were cast, according to the state reporting site, with another 463 mailed-out absentee ballots returned to the Erie County elections board office.
“I anticipate next week will be slightly busier than the average,” Jones said.
There are about 8.1 million registered voters in Ohio. The turnout in the last general election — November 2024 — was the second largest at 72%, in the last 10 years, according to state records. In 2020 the turnout was 74%.
Early voting numbers
In Huron County as of Friday, 737 in-person ballots had been cast with 177 mailed absentee ballots returned. In Ottawa County there were 1331 in-person ballots cast and 336 returned absentee ballots; and in Sandusky County 1,748 in-person ballots were cast with 561 mailed absentee ballots returned.
Statewide 98,382 in-person ballots had been cast as of Friday, and 61,308 absentee ballots had been returned, according to the data page.
Early in-person voting at the elections board offices includes the Saturday and the Sunday before Election Day. Election Day is Nov. 4. Polls open from 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.)
