SANDUSKY — Erie County’s Budget Commission — made up of treasurer Caleb Stidham, auditor Rick Jeffrey and Prosecutor Kevin Baxter — voted Wednesday (Oct. 2) to reduce or suspend property tax collections for several local entities.

The amount the budget commission cut is about $2.5 million, bringing the total reduction in taxes for residents to about $10.5 million next year, so far, adding in the county’s earlier decision not to collect its share of property taxes again next year, about $8 million.

The entities affected by the budget commission’s votes on Wednesday include Perkins Township, the Milan-Berlin Library District and Erie MetroParks.
