Facebook campaign started to push Sheriff Corbin out of office
Group behind effort stays off record and anonymous
NORWALK — A recently started Facebook page aims to force Huron County Sheriff Todd Corbin out of office. The page, Step Down for Integrity-Sheriff Corbin, had its foundational post late Wednesday.
The group behind the Step Down Corbin page is not disclosed at the page. There are other Facebook pages that also have weighed in on the various failures in the sheriff’s office, including the ongoing criminal investigation of Sheriff Corbin and why he refused to investigate Amanda Dean’s homicide in 2017. Those other pages also are published anonymously, gaining a strong foothold and a lot of eyeballs in Huron County and across the region.
There’s been speculation inside the sheriff’s office that Corbin is looking for an exit strategy. Corbin refused to comment about that or the criminal investigation of his handling of Amanda Dean’s murder case. He stopped talking to the press three years ago after the Sandusky Register exposed the false narrative Corbo provided for why he refused to investigate Dean’s murder.
The sheriff did comment to a Register reporter recently telling the reporter he could not comment and there are some insiders at the paper he does still talk with. Those conversations are kept off the record, however, and not reported by the Register.
The first post at the new Corbin Step Down page went up at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, we estimate.
The page is seeking public support to pressure Corbin to step down. We’re asking the community:
👉 Do you believe public officials under investigation should step aside while the truth comes out?
👉 Do you feel you’re getting the full story?
👉 What does accountability look like in Huron County? This page was created to share information, ask questions, and make sure these issues don’t get ignored.
