Fisher-Titus wants townships to form ambulance district
Hospital wants to end subsidy

NORWALK — Fisher-Titus Medical Center is asking township trustee boards in Huron County and city leaders to decide by Oct. 23 whether they support forming a joint ambulance district to fund and manage emergency medical services.
In a letter sent Aug. 6, Fisher-Titus CEO Matthew Mattner said the proposal follows years of financial challenges at North Central EMS. Operating losses were reduced from $2 million in 2018 to $819,000 in 2024, but the service still depends on significant subsidies.
