GREEN CREEK TOWNSHIP — A Fremont woman traveling the wrong way on U.S. 20 was killed in a head-on collision late Tuesday, according to the state Highway Patrol.
At about 9:30 p.m., a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Janet Hirt, 68, of Fremont, on U.S. 20 just east of Township Road 214, struck an eastbound 2014 Dodge Dart. The Dodge Dart was operated by Ezekiel E. Rodriguez, 32, of Fremont.
Hirt sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Rodriguez was taken to Fremont ProMedica Hospital and later moved by ground ambulance to Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The eastbound lanes of U.S. 20 were closed for about two hours following the crash. The Highway Patrol has confirmed the crash remains under investigation.
