Grieving mother asks for sit-down with Sheriff, detectives
Daughter murdered 8 years ago; Corbin's never met with family and she wants updates on search for killer
NORWALK — A grieving mother who wants Ashli Ford charged with telecommunications harassment for exploiting her murdered daughter, on Friday asked to meet with Sheriff Todd Corbin and detectives.
Tricia Sheppard’s daughter, Katelynn Shepard, 21, died July 9, 2018, in a fiery, mysterious and suspicious crash. Katelynn’s pickup went off Town Line Road 187 into a ravine and burst into flames. Her body was burned beyond recognition and had to be identified through DNA. She was the only occupant in the vehicle when it crashed and her remains were found in the passenger seat.
Investigators could not determine who was driving the truck when it left the road, or why it caught fire. They also were unable to determine what time it happened or why the vehicle left the road. The sheriff’s office stopped communicating with her family about two weeks after Katelynn was murdered.
“My daughter was killed almost 8 years ago,” Tricia said. “The sheriff’s never met with our family. He’s never told us anything.”
