PUT-IN-BAY — Is there a vacancy in the top spot at the Put-in-Bay police department? There might be.

James Kimble, a former road sergeant with the Wood County sheriff’s office, was appointed police chief in 2020.
A source told staysunedsandusky.com earlier today that Kimble shared with some local residents that he had ended his association with the department. Kimble did not respond to messages requesting an update on his job status.
Mayor Judy Berry also did not return a call seeking comment.
Kimble has had a rocky road serving as chief. He was appointed after Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Leborchick urged village council to name him chief. Kimble and Levorchick are close friends, calling each other “brothers” although they are not related by blood.
