TOLEDO — The intense debate over health insurance subsidies, which fueled the government shutdown crisis, is—according to Rep. Kaptur—an “existential speed bump” with potentially fatal consequences.

Kaptur issued a stark warning that if health insurance is allowed to become unaffordable for working Americans, the cost will be measured in human lives.

“I said to my staff, I said, if what they are trying to do to take insurance away from families because it’s unaffordable, we will have deaths across this country, and I’m not just talking about five or six. I mean hundreds of thousands.”
