SANDUSKY — I might have been “prematurely retired” like so many other journalists in recent years, but it happened just weeks, not years, too soon. I went out on my own terms.
At the time, I was always sure I’d have to supplement my retirement. I’m not talking about food, but I thought I might drive a bus, or cut the lawn on a golf course—like Forrest Gump, or something. Soothing, harmless, useful.
Little did I know, this thing called Substack would change the plan completely.
Tom Jackson, the consummate reporter and journalist with the Sandusky Register for the last 20 years, was the first to suggest it. He told me it would be a good fit. Now, coming up on exactly one year since we launched StayTunedSandusky.com, we have achieved a record of accomplishment that truly boosts our confidence.
