SANDUSKY — Derek Merrin has become a promoter of food and festivals across Ohio’s 9th Congressional District in campaign clips that consistently avoid the issues voters put at the top of their concerns.
Being on the campaign trail for Merrin looks more like playing carnival barker—eating hot dogs, greeting voters, and enjoying an occasional elephant ear.
“I’m at the Defiance Ribfest today. Gates open at 3:30. Great food, great live entertainment. See you soon,” Merrin tells supporters in a campaign clip posted to his Facebook page.
