Cases of Cyclospora cayetanensis nearly tripled over the weekend, according to the Erie County Health Department, with 51 cases reported as of Monday morning.
That’s the name for the illness that sometimes is prolonged and painful, a gastrointestinal illness caused by a microscopic parasite. .
