SANDUSKY — There’s a kind of hush all over the county, to borrow a phrase from Herman’s Hermits, about the newest member of the Erie County Board of Elections.

Edward Leonard, a recently retired attorney from the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, was sworn in Thursday to replace Tom Ferrell Jr., who stepped down Sept. 30 after a notable stint on the board.

Leonard acknowledged the appointment on his personal Facebook page, where he lists himself as a resident of Columbus and a native of Youngstown.

“Honored to be sworn in today as the newest member of the Erie County Board of Elections,” Leonard wrote.

Before retiring, Leonard served as first assistant prosecuting attorney in the Franklin County office. StayTunedSandusky.com also has confirmed his appointment earlier this month to the Vermilion Planning Commission.
