Ohio's Senators hiding out in Washington
Moreno, Husted keep faith with President Trump; no comment on deaths in Minneapolis
SANDUSKY — When he was running for the U.S. Senate in 2024, Bernie Moreno made a solemn promise: he was the “outsider” who would finally listen. He was tired of career politicians who only cared about their own re-election, he said.

Since becoming Senator a year ago, Moreno’s been unreachable.
Owing his election to President Donald J. Trump’s endorsement, Moreno’s never taken a stand on anything contrary to the President’s direction. He’s never criticized Trump’s nonsensical foreign policy that threatens to destroy NATO, his disastrous tariffs that have hindered the U.S. economy and damaged the nation’s standing in the world, and despite an immigration policy that leaves protestors dead on the streets of Minneapolis.
U.S. Sen. Moreno, like his counterpart, U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, both have declined to comment about the deaths of Renee Good, on Jan. 7, and Alex Pretti, on Jan. 24, at the hands U.S. Border Patrol and ICE agents in Minneapolis. An internet search for any related statements from both Republican senators turns up “No results.” In fact, there is very little researchable information on Moreno or Husted taking any stands on any issues — ever during their respective first year in office — that don’t line up with Trump administration talking points.
