Quarterback returns: Gregg Peugeot enters Sandusky city commissioner race
1995 SHS grad says now is right time
SANDUSKY — Gregg Peugeot knows what it’s like to call plays.
The former Sandusky High School quarterback and current attorney is hoping to bring that same strategic mindset to the Sandusky City Commission. Now 47, Peugeot is entering the race with deep roots in the community and a strong desire to focus on what he sees as the city’s next big challenge: affordable housing.
“I thought about running last cycle,” Peugeot said in a recent interview. “But I felt like we hadn’t been back long enough.”
He and his wife Sarah, a 1995 SHS graduate, returned to Sandusky about eight years ago after more than a decade in Wadsworth. Their daughter, now a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy, started sixth grade in Sandusky when they returned — giving Peugeot a renewed connection to the city and its future.
“If not now, when?” he said. “This just feels like the right time to get involved.”
The couple also has a 15-year-old son, Brody.
Time of transition
Peugeot's professional background is rooted in defending doctors and hospitals in complex medical malpractice litigation. He now works for a national insurance company, dealing with large-scale lawsuits and high-risk coverage — an experience he believes could be valuable on the commission.
He’s also paying attention to the makeup of the current commission and what’s soon to change.
