Ex-student alleges sexual harassment, assaults by boys started at McCormick Middle School and never stopped; school officials failed to act
HURON —
A former student filed a federal lawsuit Aug. 7 alleging that Huron Schools and specific staff members failed to protect her from repeated sexual harassment and assaults, ultimately forcing her to leave the district.
The former student is now an adult and the alleged abuse started when she was a student at McCormick Middle School in 2019 and continued when she was a freshman and sophomore at Huron High School.
StayTundedSandusky.com obtained a copy of the lawsuit on Thursday. Preparing for ongoing news coverage, the online daily newspaper made records requests to the city’s police department and the school district, and requested interviews with the school superintendent, the police chief and the city manager.
