SANDUSKY — It was inevitable that three new faces would be serving on the Sandusky city commission after Tuesday’s election. They will join the four incumbents on commission in January to select a leadership team.

All seven members of the next city commission have close ties to the city school district.

Top row, from left to right, City commissioners Dave Waddington, Kate Vargo, Jeff Krabill and Richard Koonce; Botton row, city commissioners-elect Gregg Peugeot, Tom Tucker and Luvada Wilson.

Commission in past years has selected commissioners who have already served a term or more on commission for president and vice president. The incumbents on commission are Dave Waddington, Kate Vargo, Jeff Krabill and Richard Koonce.

Waddington is retired school employee; Koonce is a current contract employee with the district. He also is a former school board member, as are Vargo and Krabill. Luvada Wilson, the former Erie County clerk of courts, the top votegetter on Tuesday with 2,474 votes, or 26%, was a school district employee at one time.

Gregg Peugeot, the attorney and former Sandusky High School quarterback (class of 1996), was second-highest vote getter with 2,240 votes, or 24%. Tom Tucker, the former high school band director and Sandusky Schools superintendent won the third open seat with 1,773 votes, or 19% of the vote.
