Sheriff Todd Corbin under investigation
New report reveals state is withholding 'phone records and communications' as it probes the Sheriff’s Office’s role in the Amanda Dean murder
NORWALK — A legal “wall of silence” around the Huron County Sheriff’s Office is beginning to crumble in federal court.
StayTunedSandusky has obtained a report filed yesterday that includes a bombshell admission from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office: While the homicide case against Fred Reer is over, the investigation into the “others” involved in the 2017 disappearance and death of Amanda Dean is very much alive.
The AGO has been withholding key evidence—including internal communications and phone records—specifically because of an “investigation regarding Sheriff Corbin and the Huron County Sheriff’s Office” is ongoing, according to the documents.
For years, Amanda Dean’s family and local advocates alleged a systemic cover-up within Huron County. Today, we have the first official confirmation from the state’s highest law enforcement office that those allegations have triggered a formal investigation into the sheriff himself.
Researching: We are reviewing over 100 pages in the report we received, including some of the specific records the state refuses to release. We are looking into:
Why the Sheriff’s defense team claims to be “unaware” of an investigation the AG has already confirmed.
Which “phone records” the state is desperate to keep under wraps.
The role of the BCI in this secondary probe.
This is a developing story. Stay Tuned.
