CASTALIA — Students and their families, teachers and staff at Margaretta Schools are mourning the tragic death of Jaden Acheson, a high school sophomore who was killed Saturday in an ATV accident.
In a letter to district families on Monday, Superintendent Ed P. Kurt expressed deep sorrow, writing about Jaden who was a member of the Polar Bears basketball team.
“The loss of a young life is a tragedy that words cannot adequately express,” Kurt wrote. “Our entire school district is grieving, and our hearts go out to the student’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all those whose lives were touched by this student.”
The district confirmed that grief counselors and support educators were on site at the high school to assist students and staff navigating the tragic loss.
The Margaretta Athletic Department also issued a statement honoring Acheson’s memory: “Once a Polar Bear, always a Polar Bear.”
Superintendent Kurt requested that community members respect the privacy of Acheson’s family while rallying together to offer compassion and support during this difficult time.
Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth confirmed Monday that Jaden, 15, was killed in an accident involving an ATV. Stay Tuned Sandusky has made a public records report of the accident report.
