UPDATE, 10:10 a.m.
Everyone’s talking about was a sonic boom, according to NASA, which released video surveillance of a meteor hitting the atmosphere. A surveillance camera at a parking garage in the Cleveland captured an image of the meteor.
Sonic boom? Meteor? What was that explosion?
CASTALIA — That “huge explosion” was a sonic boom across north Ohio at about 9:14 this morning, according to reports.
One woman said she heard it and moments later her daughter, who lives in Berlin Heights called and asked her if she heard the “huge explosion.”
“There was just a massive explosion here, I do not know what it was and there seemed to be aftershocks,” the woman’s daughter said.
Speculation is that it was a sonic boom caused by a meteor. That has not confirmed.
The sound could be heard from Ohio to south Michigan, according to reports.
