Sound of Silence in the U.S. 9th District
Derek Merrin is visiting everyone—from Mar-a-Lago to Washington—so why is he quiet on the ICE controversies hitting home?
SANDUSKY — Former state Rep. Derek Merrin is making the rounds in Florida and in Washington, according to his campaign social media, but he’s not answering questions about ICE, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, or White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
Merrin stepped up his social media presence — from a slow crawl with repeated posts in December and January about how terrific it’s been to meet people on the campaign trail. By the end of the month he was on the road, however, in Washington advocating for Ohio on Jan. 30, and two days earlier he was posting from Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach.
“Over two years ago, under President Joe Biden, the federal government was weaponized and Mar-a-Lago was raided. Today, President Donald Trump is back in office — and America is moving toward a comeback. Honored to be here and ready to help finish the mission and defeat Marcy Kaptur in November.”
