PUT-IN-BAY — Police Chief James Kimble walked away, according to a source, after Village Council recently met with him and told him he was done at the end of the summer season.
“They told him it was over this year and he went back to the station and told officers he was done, that’s it, and left,” the source told staytunedsandusky.com. “Not sure if there was any reason given.”
Mayor Judy Berry and Chief Kimble have not responded to messages left for them for comment. Another source said there should be an announcement from village council by Friday, or over the weekend.
Kimble’s tenure has been marked by some bizarre behavior, which is not uncommon with the village police. Village police officers — before and since Kimble was hired in 2020 — have been accused of numerous acts of wrongdoing, including assault, rape, improper use of Taser weapons and other violations.
