KELLYS ISLAND — Lakeshore Drive on Kellys Island remains closed this morning after more than 15 inches of rain duped down on the island overnight.

A flash flood watch issued by the National Weather Service through 6 p.m. today, after the rainfall, which some resident estimated at being more that what’s being reported.
“I must have gotten the 20 inches because this field behind me is under water,” Randall Stinson said in a Facebook post. “I’ve never seen that happen and there are fish swimming in my yard.
Lakeshore Drive became impassable in the 100 block at about 7 a.m., police said. The rain flooded numerous roads and there were tree limbs down, according to Kellys Island police.
Anyone moving about on the island was urged to proceed with caution.
