Time running out for Sheriff Todd Corbin

He and deputies will have to have to answer questions under oath about why they didn’t investigate Amanda Dean’s murder for more than 5 years

TOLEDO — Justice moves slow, at times. Amanda Dean’s murder in 2017 is proof of that. But a federal judge’s order on Tuesday could finally bring about full disclosure about why Huron County Sheriff Todd Corbin refused to investigate her murder.

Katelyn Shepard’s death in 2018 also has not been competently investigated by Sheriff Todd Corbin, according to her family. Corbin refuses to ask the state Crime Lab for assistance in finding evidence against her killer. Like Amanda Dean’s family, they contend Corbin won’t investigate because it will show that he was incompetent in handling an earlier domestic complaint involving Katelynn and the man suspected by family members of killing her.
