SANDUSKY โ€” Some voters believe the nationโ€™s survival rests on the outcome of the midterm election. Two โ€œlocalโ€ races are center stage on that national stage as campaign season kicks into high gear in the final stretch of a historic election.

The best U.S. President Donald Trump can hope for is a gentle sunset on his meteoric rise to power a decade ago; the worst is a clobbering few could have predicted but which appears more a possibility with each passing day. Inflationary pressures and a foreign conflict in Iran push his ratings down to historic lows in polls.

If that happens, the next two years could become the most challenging years of his life, and for his family, enough so it could make New York Attorney General Letitia โ€œTishโ€ James look like an old friend. As one pundit observed, the larger the Democratic win in November, the more aggressively they will move come January.

Donโ€™t be so quick

Newsweek magazine is strongly suggesting, however, that any celebrations right now are too presumptuous and much too premature.
