A political action committee organizing event logistics for President Donald Trump’s 2026 Midterm campaign tour has denied a media credential request from StayTunedSandusky.com to cover today’s rally in Vandalia.
Trump is scheduled to take the stage at the Butler High School Student Activity Center, a venue with a seating capacity of approximately 4,500.
The rally is positioned as a major campaign push for U.S. Sen. Jon Husted in his election contest against former U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown. Recent polling aggregations show an exceptionally tight race, with a late-September 10-poll average placing Brown 3 points ahead of Husted, and an individual Marist poll showing Brown leading by 8 points.
Former State Rep. Derek Merrin—who served as a featured speaker at Trump’s Midterm Convention in Texas alongside Texas U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton—is also expected to attend. Merrin remains in a close contest with U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur for Ohio’s 9th Congressional District, which encompasses Erie and Ottawa counties.
