Two feared dead in shooting at East Parish Street home

Suspect believed to be 20-year-old Sandusky man

SANDUSKY — Someone shot two people on East Parish Street early this morning and witnesses identified a suspect, a source told StayTunedSandusky.com.

Police are not releasing the names of the two young victims, further raising concerns in the community that both were killed. There was a pool party in that area and a large crowd was present when police arrived.

Police said they were dispatched to the home where the men were shot at 12:26 this morning, in the 1200 block of E. Parish St. They found both men suffering from gunshot wounds. Sandusky Police Chief Jared Oliver said officers immediately started aiding the men and performing medical services before EMTs arrived and transported them to Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Oliver said there are also no updates on the investigation but added that detectives are pursuing all leads. He did not have a condition update for the victims and did not immediately respond when told about the concern in the community being shared online that both men were killed.

Witnesses identified a 20-year-old Sandusky man with a lengthy arrest record as the shooter, according to the source who spoke with StayTunedSandusky.com. One victim is 20, and the other is 21, or 22, they said. The suspect was arrested several time in the last two years, according to Municipal Court records, including being charged with resisting arrest on Aug. 11. He’s faced domestic violence, menacing and other charges previously.

There is no information available about what occurred immediately before the shooting. The crowd at the home, which likely was due to there being a pool party in the neighborhood, was problematic for police, Oliver said. Some in the crowd began interfering and there were arrests.
