SANDUSKY — City Commissioner Kate Vargo has confirmed she is seeking the position of ex officio mayor, or commission president, when the seven-member body selects its new leadership Jan. 12. Vargo’s plan is paired with a bid by her colleague, Commissioner Jeff Krabill, to serve as vice mayor.

The City Commission will vote internally on the positions, which have traditionally gone to the most senior or experienced members, but are ultimately subject to a majority vote.
