SANDUSKY — Three Sandusky city commissioners attending their last city commission meeting on Monday were met with applause and gratitude from friends, family, and supporters.

Commissioners Dennis Murray Jr. and Dick Brady are ending their third straight 4-year terms on a high note. Even the city’s worst critics agree: it’s been one hell of a run. They inherited budget chaos when they started this journey, a demoralized city workforce rocked by scandal and failed leadership, and bare-bone reductions in staff and constituent services due to state and federal funding cuts.

A dozen years later — after each served in both leadership roles on commission, swapping titles midway through — the city, most agree, has been well served. Remarkably, well served.
