Girls Don't Matter 1: The Ashli Ford firewall
How Huron Schools used a podcaster’s silence to silence the truth
HURON — When the Huron City School District hired Venice Solutions Group to investigate claims of systemic sexual misconduct and professional failure, they didn’t just hire an investigator. They hired a clock.
The 25-page report released on Friday makes one thing clear: The District’s strategy for exoneration relied almost entirely on the legal collapse of local podcaster Ashli Ford. By framing the investigation around Ford’s unverified “Jane Doe” claims, the District created a perfect “firewall” against accountability.
‘No cooperation’ loophole
The investigator, David Brode, states in his report that Ford promised to provide names and contact information for victims but ultimately went silent. In the report’s eyes, if Ashli Ford didn’t provide a name, the victim didn’t exist. Ford is a former waitress who started a podcast and social media pages a couple of years ago that focus on cold cases and alleged police corruption.
