Election night 2025: Sandusky school board race is 4-vote margin

Some final results

SANDUSKY — Retired teacher Jennifer Ashburn won a Sandusky school board seat Tuesday by a four-vote margin on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Erie County elections board.

Ashburn finished second with 1,495 votes to Jennifer Chapman’s 1,491 votes, a margin of .00006% triggering an automatic recount. Martha Stauffer Murray was the top votegetter in the race with 1,872 votes, or 39%,

In the Sandusky city commission race, Luvada Wilson, Gregg Peugeot and Tom Tucker were elected, according to unofficial results, with 26%, 24%, and 19% of the vote, respectively. There were a total of 9,381 votes cast in the race.

Jim Lang and Tim Coleman were re-elected Perkins Township trustees. Lang received 1,794 votes, or 39%, and Coleman received 1,433 votes, or 31%. Challenger Lisa Crescimano received 1,391 votes or 30%.

In Monroville, a school renewal levy tied 25 votes for and 25 votes against. It was unclear at press time what the outcome means for the district.

In Vermilion Township, a renewal/replacement with an increase levy was defeated by voters by an 898-665 vote margin, or 57%-43%.

The Erie County Health District level was approved with a 67% margin, and the Serving Our Seniors levy won with a 72% margin.

Michal Kaufman was elected Sandusky municipal Court Judge. Kaufman received 4,204 votes, or 59%, defeating Robert Ritzier, who received 2,879 votes, or 41%, according to unofficial results.
