NORWALK — Family members pleaded with Judge James Conway on Monday asking him to give Fred Reer the maximum sentence for killing Amanda Dean in July 2017. His attorney asked for an eight-year sentence.
After an emotional statement in which she told Conway how much her daughter was loved by her family and how much the family has been forever changed because of Reer’s brutal act, Caroline Tokar, Amanda’s mother, told Comway Reer deserved the maximum punishment.
Amanda’s sister and her four sons all spoke before Conway handed down a 14-year prison sentence.
